2 injured in State Route 143 crash

On Behalf of Harris, Powers & Cunningham PLLC | Jun 30, 2014 | Car Accidents

An Arizona crash on June 23 left two men with serious injuries. The wreck, which took place in the northbound lanes of State Route 143 in Phoenix at approximately 1:50 a.m., is the fifth accident to occur within a time period of one month.

Authorities stated that the driver of a green sedan was traveling south in the northbound lanes when he collided with a second vehicle. The impact of the collision caused enough damage to the vehicles that one driver had to be extricated by emergency crews. Both men were taken to Maricopa County Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Police reported that both of the drivers were being investigated to determine if they were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Additionally, it was determined that the driver of the green sedan was operating the vehicle on a suspended license and that he had a previous DUI conviction.

Wrong-way car accidents can result in serious injuries, including broken bones, traumatic brain injuries and damage to internal organs. Not only is treatment for these injuries expensive, that individual may also require a long recovery time. If it is determined that another motorist caused the wreck, an injured victim could pursue litigation against him or her.

Through a personal injury lawsuit, a victim could seek restitution from the accused driver for any accident-related damages. For example, in some cases, the injured person could be compensated for the cost of their medical care, vehicle damage and pain and suffering.
