Elderly pedestrian hit by car while walking his dog

On Behalf of Harris, Powers & Cunningham PLLC | Nov 25, 2015 | Car Accidents

While much of the country is bracing for the onset of winter weather, people in our region are unfazed. This allows many people to take walks in the morning. Unfortunately, one man’s walk in Paradise Valley led to a tragic accident.

According to a recent azcentral.com report, a 77 year-old man was struck and killed as he was walking his dog. The accident reportedly occurred around 4:00 in the afternoon, and is still under investigation. The driver stopped at the scene and was questioned by authorities.

So far, authorities do not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol, but it remains to be seen whether any other impairments or mechanical issues led to the accident. Further, it is unknown whether the man suffered any medical events that would have contributed to the accident.

The case is a prime example of why accident investigations are important. Indeed, a police investigation can unearth (or clarify) a number of facts behind an accident. However, a private investigation could bring about facts that the authorities may have missed.

Additionally, a thorough investigation could eliminate possible claims against a person accused of causing an accident. This is critically important in instances where it is unknown who (or what) caused a crash.

In the meantime, no arrests have been made in the pedestrian accident and authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to come forward. If you or a loved one have been hit by a car or motorcycle, an experienced personal injury attorney can help.
