Truck catches fire on I-10

In our last couple of posts, we have highlighted how traffic accidents can shut down highways and cause miles of backups in the Phoenix metro area. Indeed, snarled traffic can be the bane of one’s existence when trying to get from point A to point B in the valley.

However, traffic accidents can be equally as troubling in rural areas. After all, since they are so far away from metro areas, first responders may have problems getting to these accidents. This may result in damage being more extensive to a truck or vehicle.

A truck catching fire near Vicksburg on Interstate 10 exemplifies this. According to a recent report, the semi-truck was carrying cattle on I-10 when it suddenly caught on fire. State troopers were the first to respond to the scene, but they were not able to put out the blaze using their fire extinguishers. However, a local construction company was available to put out the flames using a water truck.

Fortunately, neither the driver nor the cattle were hurt. Investigators are still searching for what caused the fire.

In the meantime, the story exemplifies the duty that truckers have to complete daily safety checks so that they can be proactive in remedying defects that can lead to tragic accidents. If a truck driver fails in adhering to this duty, and such a failure results in an accident, the driver could be held liable for the injuries and property damage sustained.

If you have been in an accident, whether you are a trucker or a passenger in a car, an experienced personal injury attorney can help.
