A collision involving a pickup truck and a car in West Phoenix left two people dead and three injured, according to reports. The fatal accident happened near Indian School Road during the evening hours of May 3.

Law enforcement officials stated that an individual driving a pickup truck collided almost head on into a vehicle on 67th Avenue, fatally injuring two people who were in the vehicle. It was unclear if they died at the scene or were first taken to a nearby hospital.

According to the report, first responders to the scene had to cut two of the individuals out of the vehicle. The pickup truck driver and two others who were in the vehicle were all taken to a hospital for treatment. There were no passengers in the truck. The condition of the survivors was not reported.

Authorities closed 67th Avenue while investigators processed the accident scene. The roadway was reopened sometime during the morning hours of May 4.

Car accidents such as head-on collisions often prove fatal or leave those involved seriously injured. In many cases, the accident could have been avoided had it not been for the actions of a negligent or distracted driver. As a result, victims may have to undergo extensive medical treatment. While some victims recuperate from their injuries, others die or suffer with lifelong disabilities resulting from a spinal cord, brain or back injury. A local personal injury lawyer may be able to advise a victim of a serious car accident or the family members of a loved one who died in a crash of their eligibility to file a civil claim. If information from police reports and witness accounts reveal that negligence caused the crash, the lawyer representing the plaintiff might argue that the driver is liable for damages. Plaintiffs who succeed in a wrongful death or personal injury claim may be compensated for their accident-related losses.
