2 killed in Paulden collision

On Behalf of Harris, Powers & Cunningham PLLC | Dec 12, 2014 | Car Accidents

An Arizona accident killed a motorcyclist and a high school student in a pickup truck. The accident reportedly happened on Nov. 29 around 11 a.m near an intersection.

The pickup truck, which contained three local high school students, had been traveling eastbound. The motorcycle was headed northbound when it collided with the truck.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the truck overturned as a result of the impact. The truck’s driver was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center, and another passenger was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center. They received treatment and were at home with their families at the time of the report. Neither of them had been wearing seat belts. The third occupant of the truck, who had a seatbelt on, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist, who did not have a helmet on, also died at the scene.

The local high school that the students attended issued a news release about the accident. Counselors were available to help students cope with any emotional distress related to the news.

Any car accident that involves the loss of a loved one can change families’ lives forever. Regardless of the age of the deceased, the financial issues that may arise can have serious consequences. When an adult dies, the family may have to cope without a main income earner and struggle to pay final expenses. In the case of a teenager who dies, many families lack life insurance or other resources to pay for final expenses. A personal injury lawyer may help families in this situation to file a wrongful death claim against any liable parties. This claim can allow families to receive appropriate compensation for financial losses resulting from their loved one’s death.
