Arizona car crash kills 1, leaves 2 seriously injured

On Behalf of Harris, Powers & Cunningham PLLC | Nov 20, 2014 | Car Accidents

A deadly Tucson car accident has claimed the life of a 62-year-old man and seriously injured two people. The crash occurred on Nov. 10 near the intersection of South Alvernon Way and West Irvington Road. The decedent was a passenger in a sedan that reportedly made a left turn in front of two vehicles.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, two vehicles, a van and a BWM SUV, were traveling north on South Alvernon Way when a Cadillac sedan headed south on the same road made a left turn in front of both cars. The van and the SUV struck the sedan on the passenger side, killing the passenger on impact.

The Cadillac and SUV drivers were transported to a local hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van did not suffer any injuries. Authorities have not stated if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but the car accident remains under investigation.

Left-turn accidents are one of the most common car accident scenarios. Typically, vehicles that intend to turn left at an intersection must yield to the right of way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction. When a driver fails to do this, they may be deemed at-fault for any ensuing injuries or fatalities. With the help of an attorney, the individuals who suffered serious injuries in a crash similar to this one may be able to obtain compensation for their damages in a civil suit.
