Pedestrian dies after being hit during 2-car crash

On Behalf of | Jan 10, 2014 | Car Accidents

Accidents can occur at any time on the roadway, which is why it’s essential that all drivers and pedestrians remain alert and aware. It’s not reported whether negligence or careless driving was part of the cause in an accident on Monday, Dec. 30, in Phoenix, Arizona. The car accident involved two vehicles and a pedestrian.

According to police, individuals in both cars suffered from minor injuries due to the incident. The pedestrian who was involved in the accident died on the scene. The pedestrian was a 37-year-old man.

Police report that the 37-year-old man was standing on the side of the road at the intersection of Greenway Parkway and 29th Street. He was waiting to cross the street at around 5 p.m. on Dec. 30. At that time, a motorist who was traveling on Greenway Parkway in the westbound lane attempted to make a left-hand turn onto 29th.

A second car struck the vehicle attempting the left-hand turn. During that accident, one of the cars struck the 37-year-old-man. He sustained serious injuries that resulted in his death.

There are no reports on charges or fault in this case, but in the event of an accident-related death, there is usually an investigation of some kind. According to police, the area was blocked for several hours due to the accident. If either driver is found at fault for the incident, it may set the stage for a compensation claim from the victim’s family. Even without a police statement regarding driver fault, families of those who are killed in car accidents can explore legal options for compensation.
