A Sept. 12 accident in Tempe killed a pedestrian and left a man facing felony charges, authorities stated. Police reportedly suspect that a 29-year-old man was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the pedestrian accident.
A 41-year-old man on a motorcycle was reportedly forced off the highway by a semi-truck on Sept. 4, according to Pima police. The semi-truck was allegedly trying to enter the motorcycle's lane and may not have seen the motorcycle. As a result, the motorcyclist swerved to the right to avoid being hit, struck a curb in front of a convenience store and crashed. The truck driver drove on, possibly not even realizing he had hit the biker.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a moving truck was involved in a multi-vehicle wreck near downtown Phoenix that injured multiple people. The Interstate 10 accident transpired at approximately 11 a.m. on Sept. 9.
A student's vehicle was struck outside Thunderbird High School in North Phoenix around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 3. The 17-year-old girl and the 78-year-old woman driving the other vehicle were each transported to an area trauma center for treatment of serious injuries. Both were expected to recover, according to police.
An Arizona man believed to have caused an accident that resulted in one death and another injury was accused of being under the influence at the time of the crash on Aug 21. According to a report, the incident took place near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Estrella Drive in Laveen.
On Oct. 6, a 28-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona, was driving the wrong way on State Route 51. His vehicle struck an SUV head-on. The crash resulted in the death of a 55-year-old New York woman who was a passenger in the car and serious injuries to the driver who was hospitalized for days after the accident. The Phoenix man also suffered injuries, but he recovered and was arrested after his release from the hospital.
