A San Tan Valley accident left one woman dead after she accepted a ride with a 21-year-old man from a bar. Allegedly, the man was speeding when he lost control of his car and hit a fence. The car rolled over, and as the fire department arrived, it caught fire and exploded.

Teen driver charged with murder after deadly Tempe crash

A 19-year-old man was charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon for his role in a December crash that killed a 16-year-old girl. According to one source, the driver is suspected of driving while impaired. Blood tests conducted at the hospital were positive for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the chemical in marijuana that causes impairment.

Work truck kills Arizona pedestrian before crashing

On the morning of Oct. 31, a southbound work truck reportedly jumped a curb on Priest Drive and struck a pedestrian at the Elliot Road intersection. The driver then attempted to turn right onto Elliot Road and wound up in the wrong lane facing oncoming traffic. At that point, he crossed the median and three lanes before striking a light pole next to a covered bus stop.

Phoenix-area pedestrian death

A work truck apparently went out of control while heading down a local street on Oct. 31, going on a wild and tragic ride before coming to a stop after hitting a light pole. The driver suffered unknown injuries, and one woman was killed at the scene as she stood on a sidewalk. The incident is still under investigation.

Pedestrian killed on Phoenix street

A woman crossing a street in Phoenix was struck and killed by a car on the night of Oct. 23, authorities stated. The driver involved in the 8 p.m. accident allegedly fled from the scene of the crash, on McDowell Road near 51st Avenue. Phoenix police eventually located and detained the driver, reportedly.

Arizona motorcyclist killed in crash

A 28-year-old resident of Phoenix lost his life when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Cadillac SUV around 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 30. The deadly crash occurred just east of Scottsdale Road on heavily traveled Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard in Scottsdale. The entire eastbound side of the roadway was shut down for approximately four hours, and the closure severely affected morning rush hour traffic.
