How to preserve your rights after a car accident

No one actually plans to be in an accident.  Sometimes it is obvious that the other driver was in the wrong. In other instances, liability could essentially be a coin flip.

In either scenario, it is helpful to be able to preserve your right to recovery. As such, we offer the following tips that can help in preserving one's legal rights.

Call 911 - It is important to call the police so that a detailed report can be prepared to document physical injuries and/or significant property damage.

Exchange information -In the commotion that occurs after an accident, it may be easy to forget about this, but exchanging insurance and contact information is important. After all, every driver in Arizona is required to have insurance.  Failing to do so may lead to additional issues.

Check on everyone in the accident - In many accidents, drivers may be able to exit their vehicles under their own power. However, if they are unconscious or are unable to move, it is critical to call for help. Checking on everyone in the accident is helpful.

Keep track of medical treatments - It is advisable to seek medical treatment after an accident, but it is also important to keep track of all medical treatments and recommendations. This information is essential to establish monetary damages.
