Two killed in highway crash

On Behalf of | Apr 4, 2014 | Car Accidents

As the weather gets warmer across the country, more people will flock to Arizona to enjoy some of the natural wonders the state has to offer, including the Grand Canyon, camping sites as well as lakes and rivers. It may go without saying that drivers must be careful when on the road, but many don’t realize how dangerous entering traffic from the side of a highway can be.

This danger was exemplified in a crash on Arizona highway 77 near Snowflake this morning. The Department of Public Safety reported a single car crash five miles north of the town. Authorities reported that a car rolled over several times.

The vehicle was going southbound before the driver pulled over to the right shoulder. As the car attempted to reenter the freeway, it rolled over several time. The car finally came to a stop when it was laying on its roof and facing northbound. When first responders arrived, they found two people dead in the vehicle.

The crash is reportedly under investigation and a cause has yet to be determined. This has substantial legal implications, because it may determine whether the families of the people killed in the crash may bring suit, and who may be held liable.   The families are likely to bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the responsible party so that they can recover money for lost future wages, loss of companionship, pain and suffering as well as emotional distress.

In the meantime, the crash closed the highway for more than two hours.
